Blood, when it is needed, from someone who can give today.

Khidmat Blood Bank connects a person who needs blood with donors whose blood the patient can receive. Donors are asked in turn, and a donor who has just given rests for six months before anyone calls again.

Why Khidmat

Why not just a list?

Most blood requests go round as a message with the same list of names. The first name on it gets every call.

01

The same person is called every time

A static list has an order. The person at the top is phoned for every request, until they stop answering, and the names at the bottom are never asked.

02

Khidmat asks in turn

Donors who can give to the patient are offered a few at a time: the patient’s own group first, and within each group the one asked longest ago. Within a group, nobody is asked twice while others wait.

03

A donor who has given rests

Mark that you donated and you leave the results for six months, the medical rest between donations. You come back automatically.

04

Numbers are not public

A donor’s number is shown only to a receiver who has given their own details first, and only for donors who agreed to be contacted.

Questions

Questions, answered plainly.

Donors of the patient’s own blood group first, then donors of other groups whose red cells the patient can safely receive (for example, O negative red cells suit every group). The hospital decides, and still tests and cross-matches the blood before it is given.

Only a person who has given us their own details and the patient’s blood group, and only if you agreed to be contacted. Your number is never published or sent round in a list.

Mark it here, or tell the person you helped to mark it. You leave the results for six months, then return automatically. You can also pause yourself at any time.

No. Khidmat connects a person in need with willing donors. Screening, testing and the donation itself happen at the hospital or blood bank, under their rules.
